BJP Clarifies: Kangana Ranaut Not Authorized to Speak on Party’s Policy Matters
New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has distanced itself from the recent remarks made by actor-politician Kangana Ranaut regarding the farmers’ protest. The party made it clear that Ranaut is not authorized to speak on its policy matters, emphasizing that her statements do not reflect the party’s official stance.
The BJP’s response follows a recent controversy stirred by the 38-year-old MP’s comments, where she suggested that the farmers’ protest could have escalated into a crisis similar to that in Bangladesh if not for the government’s decisive actions.
In an official statement, the BJP stated, “Kangana Ranaut is not authorized to speak on policy matters on behalf of the party. She has not been given permission to make such statements, and we have directed her to refrain from doing so in the future.”
This clarification comes after leaders from Haryana and Punjab advised Ranaut, who represents Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency, to avoid making inflammatory comments. Punjab BJP leader Harjit Grewal remarked, “It is not Kangana’s responsibility to speak on farmers’ issues. Her statement is personal, and it does not align with the party’s farmer-friendly stance.”
The controversy also drew criticism from the Congress, with Randeep Surjewala questioning whether Ranaut’s comments were her own or influenced by others. Surjewala, who is actively campaigning in poll-bound Haryana, further challenged the BJP’s silence on the matter.
This isn’t the first time Kangana Ranaut has faced backlash for her comments. In 2020, she was embroiled in controversy for allegedly misidentifying a woman farmer from Punjab during the protests and making derogatory remarks.
The BJP’s statement serves as a reminder that Kangana Ranaut does not have the authority to represent the party’s views on sensitive issues.
