Congress and National Conference Secure Seat-Sharing Deal
The Congress and National Conference have finalized a seat-sharing agreement for Jammu and Kashmir’s upcoming Assembly elections. Senior leaders from both parties confirmed the deal, which was reached just hours before the nomination deadline for the first phase.

Seat Allocation and Strategic Contest
Under the agreement, the National Conference will contest 51 out of the 90 Assembly seats. The Congress will contest 32 seats. Both parties will engage in a “friendly but disciplined contest” for five seats, while two seats are reserved for the CPIM and the Panthers Party.
Deal Sealed Before Nomination Deadline
The agreement was confirmed by the Congress’ Jammu and Kashmir chief, Tariq Hameed Karra, who informed reporters that negotiations had been successful. The deal brings an end to weeks of discussions, ensuring both parties are prepared for the upcoming elections.
