Cristiana Barsony-Arcidiacono Denies Lebanon Blast Allegations
Cristiana Barsony-Arcidiacono, CEO of BAC Consulting, denies making the explosive pagers that killed 12 people in Lebanon. The 49-year-old Italian-Hungarian, who holds a PhD in particle physics, insists her company only licensed the pager design from its original Taiwanese manufacturer, Gold Apollo.
Denial and Disappearance
Barsony-Arcidiacono stated in an interview that she was simply an intermediary and not responsible for the manufacturing of the pagers. Since then, she has avoided public appearances, and neighbors report not having seen her. Her apartment in Budapest remains closed, and she has not responded to messages seeking further comment.
A Complex Background
Acquaintances describe Barsony-Arcidiacono as intelligent but with a history of short-term jobs across Africa and Europe. Kilian Kleinschmidt, a former U.N. humanitarian administrator who once hired her, regretted the decision, citing her poor management. He terminated her contract early due to her behavior, calling it one of the biggest mistakes of his career.
Inconsistencies in Her Career
Despite her scientific background, Barsony-Arcidiacono appears to have shifted away from a scientific career. Her CV, filled with prestigious claims, included unverified postgraduate degrees and roles. An NGO she listed as an employer denied she ever held a position there, and the International Atomic Energy Agency stated she was only an intern, not a project manager as she claimed.
Questions Remain
Barsony-Arcidiacono’s Budapest apartment, known for displaying her pastel nude drawings, remains shuttered. She has not responded to calls or emails, leaving many questions about her involvement in this international incident unanswered.
As authorities continue their investigation, the spotlight remains on Barsony-Arcidiacono and her company, BAC Consulting.
