Delhi Man and Nephew Fatally Shot on Diwali in Shahdara Over Money Dispute
In a shocking Diwali tragedy, a man and his nephew were shot dead outside their residence in Delhi’s Shahdara on Thursday evening. The incident, which took place in Shahdara’s Farsh Bazar area around 8 p.m., was captured on CCTV. According to police, a 16-year-old boy, who had a money dispute with the victim, hired the shooter and has since been detained.
The CCTV footage shows 44-year-old Akash Sharma celebrating Diwali with his nephew, Rishabh Sharma (16), and his 10-year-old son, Krish Sharma, as they lit firecrackers on the narrow road outside their home. Moments later, the teenage suspect arrives on a two-wheeler and touches Akash’s feet, while the shooter stands by. Seconds later, the shooter fired multiple rounds at Akash Sharma, killing him and injuring his son. Rishabh ran after the shooters but was also shot and killed.
Police reported that the detained teenager had lent money to Akash Sharma, who had not repaid the amount.
Pre-Meditated Attack
According to the police, the accused teenager had planned the attack 17 days in advance. Police also noted prior cases involving both the minor suspect and the victim’s family, indicating a history of disputes.
This tragic incident adds a dark shadow to the Diwali festivities, with authorities investigating further to bring justice to the family and ensure safety in the community.
