PM Modi Lands in Brazil for G20 Summit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Monday. This marks the second leg of his three-nation tour. Before this, he concluded a productive visit to Nigeria, where he held talks with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and engaged with the Indian community.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced Modi’s arrival, sharing pictures of his warm welcome. PM Modi posted on X, “Landed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to take part in the G20 Summit. I look forward to summit discussions and fruitful talks with world leaders.”
Key Leaders Gather in Brazil
PM Modi will attend the 19th G20 Summit as part of the Troika, which includes India, Brazil, and South Africa. Alongside him, leaders like Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden will also join the summit on November 18-19.
Historic Visit to Guyana Next
After Brazil, Modi will visit Guyana from November 19 to 21, marking the first visit by an Indian prime minister to the nation in over 50 years. The trip is at the invitation of Guyana’s President Mohamed Irfaan Ali.
Highlights of Nigeria Visit
During his Nigeria visit, PM Modi received the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), becoming the second foreign dignitary to be honored with this prestigious award. Queen Elizabeth II is the only other recipient.
The Nigeria visit was also historic as it marked the first trip by an Indian prime minister to the country in 17 years.
India’s G20 Legacy
Reflecting on India’s G20 presidency last year, Modi highlighted the significant milestones achieved. These include the African Union’s inclusion as a permanent member and overcoming divisions on global issues. “This year, Brazil builds on our legacy,” Modi said, emphasizing his commitment to the vision of One Earth, One Family, One Future.
