PDP’s Iltija Mufti Accuses NC of Sabotaging Merit in J&K
On Sunday, PDP leader Iltija Mufti lashed out at the National Conference (NC) in Jammu and Kashmir. She accused them of undermining meritocracy. Mufti stated, “The NC is killing merit in broad daylight with their deceptive promises about reservation reforms.”
This criticism follows an advertisement from Government Medical College in Anantnag. It detailed openings in paramedical courses. Out of 17 seats, only three cater to open merit candidates. The remainder are reserved for specific categories like RBA, OBC, and STs.
Mufti, who serves as the media adviser to her mother, former CM Mehbooba Mufti, didn’t hold back. She claimed, “The NC only cares about statehood to maintain their grip on power.”
Her comments address the NC’s manifesto for the recent assembly elections. It promised to overhaul the reservation policy and address disparities. However, Mufti argues that these promises are far from reality.
