Kejriwal Questions BJP’s CM Face
AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal alleged on Wednesday that BJP plans to name Parvesh Verma as its chief ministerial candidate for the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections. “Sources say BJP will declare Parvesh Verma as its CM face. Do the people of Delhi want such a person as their CM?” Kejriwal posted on X.
Claims of Vote Buying in New Delhi Constituency
Kejriwal accused BJP of distributing cash to buy votes in the New Delhi Vidhan Sabha constituency. He alleged that voters were being offered ₹1,100 per vote. “If BJP had worked for the people in the last ten years, they wouldn’t need to buy votes,” he remarked.
AAP leader Atishi also alleged that Parvesh Verma was caught handing out cash at his official residence. “Women from slum areas were given ₹1,100 in envelopes after verifying their voter cards,” she claimed during a press conference. Atishi urged the Election Commission to instruct the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Delhi Police to raid Verma’s residence.
Mahila Samman Yojana Controversy
The controversy coincides with public notices issued by the Department of Women and Child Development, which declared the “Mahila Samman Yojana” as fraudulent. The department clarified that no such scheme exists under the Delhi Government.
The Delhi Assembly elections, slated for early 2025, will be pivotal. In 2020, AAP won 62 out of 70 seats, while BJP managed only eight. This time, allegations and counter-allegations are intensifying the political battlefield.
