Arvind Kejriwal, AAP’s convener, has written to Mohan Bhagwat, the RSS chief, amid Delhi’s heated election campaign. In his letter, Kejriwal questioned the BJP’s alleged misuse of power and its impact on democracy.
He accused BJP leaders of distributing money to buy votes. “Does the RSS support such actions? Is striking off Dalit and Purvanchali names from voter lists good for democracy?” Kejriwal asked Mohan Bhagwat.
The letter appears to target the BJP during an intense campaign. AAP claims BJP is manipulating voter lists to gain an unfair advantage. On the other hand, BJP accuses AAP of adding fake voters to bolster its support base.
BJP Hits Back
State BJP President Virendra Sachdeva responded with a scathing letter. He urged Kejriwal to abandon “lying and deceit” and bring meaningful changes within himself.
On Sunday, Kejriwal addressed the media, accusing BJP of lacking vision and credible candidates. “BJP relies on dishonest tactics to win elections. But Delhiites won’t let this happen,” he said.
Allegations of Voter List Manipulation
Kejriwal alleged BJP launched “Operation Lotus” in his constituency. He claimed 5,000 voters were removed, and 7,500 new names were added to the voter list. He questioned the credibility of the Election Commission’s revised voter list issued on October 29.
The AAP leader also accused BJP of registering non-residents as Delhi voters. He warned officers against illegal actions, stating, “Your signatures will remain as proof. Follow the law, or you’ll face consequences when the government changes.”
BJP Defends Its Position
Virendra Sachdeva dismissed Kejriwal’s claims, highlighting a surge in voter numbers between the 2014 and 2015 elections. He questioned how these voters were added, hinting at irregularities under AAP’s watch.
BJP also alleged that fake documents were being used to add names to voter lists. Sachdeva argued that names of deceased or relocated individuals should not remain on the list.
Kejriwal Previous Letter to Mohan Bhagwat
This is not the first time Kejriwal addressed Bhagwat. In September, he raised five questions about BJP’s leadership and the alleged misuse of central agencies to target opposition leaders.
As the election battle intensifies, both parties continue trading accusations, with democracy and fairness at the core of their debate.
