Punjabi Bagh Flyover Inaugurated to Relieve Delhi Commuters
On January 2, 2025, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi officially inaugurated the 1.1-kilometer-long, six-lane Punjabi Bagh flyover. This important infrastructure project, part of the Western Delhi Elevated Corridor, has been completed at a cost of ₹352.32 crore. In addition to the flyover, the project also includes the construction of an underground subway near Punjabi Bagh.
A Step Towards Prioritizing Development
Atishi emphasized that development is the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s top priority. She stated that the Punjabi Bagh flyover is a perfect example of the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure.
Relief for Delhi Residents
With the new flyover, Delhi commuters are expected to experience significant relief from traffic congestion. CM Atishi revealed that the flyover will benefit approximately 300,000 people daily. It will make travel easier for those commuting between North Delhi, South Delhi, and the western parts of the city. It will reducing travel time and easing congestion at three major traffic signals.
Record Number of Flyovers Built
Atishi highlighted that under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi government has constructed a total of 39 flyovers, the highest number achieved by any administration in the city. She assured the public that the government will continue focusing on projects that cater to the needs of the people.
In her speech, Atishi also recalled how, under political pressure, Arvind Kejriwal had been falsely imprisoned but remained committed to his vision for development and public welfare.
Environmental Benefits
Atishi also highlighted the environmental benefits of the new flyover, stating that it will help reduce pollution levels by the equivalent of 65,000 trees. Not only will it ease traffic, but it will also contribute positively to environmental conservation efforts in the city.
The inauguration marks another milestone in the Delhi government’s ongoing efforts to improve urban infrastructure and quality of life for its residents.
