Gehlot Calls AAP an “Opponent,” Kejriwal Hits Back
The cracks within the INDIA alliance are widening as Congress leader Ashok Gehlot declared that AAP is their opposition in Delhi. Speaking to reporters, Gehlot said the Arvind Kejriwal-led party is overconfident about winning the upcoming Assembly polls.
“They [AAP] are under a misconception after winning twice. But the voters’ mood seems to have changed. The Congress is campaigning well, and we expect good results,” said the former Rajasthan Chief Minister.
Kejriwal Accuses Congress of Secret Alliance with BJP
In a fiery response, Arvind Kejriwal shared a video clip of Gehlot’s remarks on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
“Gehlot ji, you confirmed that the Congress sees AAP as the opposition. But you remained silent on the BJP. People believed that the BJP and Congress were secretly working together against AAP. Today, you made it public. Thank you for the clarification,” Kejriwal wrote in Hindi.
Kejriwal’s statement adds to the ongoing tensions between the two parties, with AAP previously accusing Congress of helping the BJP in Delhi. The spat comes after Congress leader Ajay Maken reportedly called Kejriwal “anti-national,” prompting AAP to demand an apology or threaten Congress’s removal from the INDIA bloc.
INDIA Allies Rally Behind AAP
While the Congress-AAP rift deepens, key INDIA allies have thrown their weight behind AAP for the Delhi polls.
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Samajwadi Party (SP) have both announced their support for AAP. Mamata Banerjee’s TMC made its stand clear on Wednesday, with senior leader Derek O’Brien tweeting, “We have your back @AamAadmiParty.”
In response, Kejriwal expressed gratitude to Banerjee, writing, “Thank you, Didi. You have always supported and blessed us in good and bad times.”
Similarly, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav voiced support for AAP earlier this week. Kejriwal thanked him, saying, “I and the people of Delhi are grateful for this.”

Delhi is set to vote on February 5, with results to be declared on February 8.
The Congress-AAP feud raises questions about the future of the INDIA bloc, especially in Delhi. With key allies like TMC and SP backing AAP, it seems the Congress might have a tough battle ahead.
As the polls approach, one thing is clear — Delhi’s political landscape is heating up. Will this divide affect the INDIA bloc’s unity, or is this just pre-election posturing?
The countdown to February 5 has begun.
