
AAP Fields Avadh Ojha for Patparganj
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has introduced a new candidate for the Patparganj assembly seat, a constituency previously represented by former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. Avadh Ojha, a renowned UPSC tutor, will contest from this key seat in the upcoming February 2025 Delhi elections. Meanwhile, Sisodia will run from the Jangpura constituency.

1. Humble Beginnings in Uttar Pradesh
Avadh Ojha was born on July 3, 1984, in Gonda district, Uttar Pradesh. He comes from a middle-class family, with his father, Shrimata Prasad Ojha, working as a postmaster. Ojha pursued his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mathematics from Patna University.
2. Dream of Becoming an IAS Officer
Ojha aspired to join the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) since childhood. His father sold their land to fund Ojha’s education in Delhi. Despite clearing the UPSC prelims, he couldn’t pass the Mains and eventually shifted his focus to teaching.
3. Teaching Journey Since 2005
Ojha began his teaching career in 2005 and worked with several prestigious coaching institutes, including The ABC Academy of Civil Services, Chanakya IAS Academy, Unacademy, and Borthakur IAS Academy. His teaching style made him popular among UPSC aspirants.
4. Founder of IQRA IAS Academy
In 2019, Ojha established his own coaching center, IQRA IAS Academy, in Pune, Maharashtra. The academy gained fame for providing affordable, high-quality education. He also launched the “Avadh Ojha Mobile Application,” offering exam guidance. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ojha gained a significant following on YouTube for his online classes.
5. Controversy and Criticism
Ojha faced criticism earlier this year for his silence following the tragic deaths of three UPSC aspirants in Delhi’s Old Rajinder Nagar area due to flooding. His lack of response sparked debates within the academic community.
