PM Modi Inaugurates ISKCON Temple in Navi Mumbai
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Sri Sri Radha Madanmohanji Temple at Khargar, Navi Mumbai, on Wednesday. The temple is a significant addition to the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).
Speaking at the event, Modi expressed gratitude for being part of the inauguration. “I feel blessed to be part of this divine occasion. The temple symbolizes knowledge and devotion,” he said.
Temple Reflects Spiritual Tradition
The Prime Minister admired the temple’s design, calling it a reflection of India’s spiritual heritage. He praised the temple for showcasing various forms of God, saying it would strengthen India’s faith and consciousness.
“I am confident this temple will become a center for spiritual awakening. I congratulate ISKCON and the people of Maharashtra for this noble work,” Modi added.
Tribute to Gopal Krishna Goswami
PM Modi paid tribute to former ISKCON chairman Gopal Krishna Goswami, who passed away in May 2024. He recalled Goswami’s vision and devotion to Lord Krishna.
“Today, I remember Gopalkrishna Goswami Maharaj. His vision and blessings are deeply connected to this temple. Though he is not physically present, his spiritual presence is felt by all,” Modi said.
Praise for Srila Prabhupada
The PM praised Srila Prabhupada, the founder of ISKCON, for spreading Krishna consciousness globally. He highlighted Prabhupada’s efforts in promoting Vedic knowledge during colonial times.
“At an age when people think of retirement, Srila Prabhupada started ISKCON’s mission. He linked Vedant with people’s consciousness, spreading devotion worldwide,” Modi said.
Government’s Welfare Initiatives
Modi also spoke about his government’s ongoing efforts to improve the lives of citizens.
“Our government is dedicated to serving the people. We have built toilets in every household, provided gas connections to poor women, ensured tap water for every home, and offered free medical treatment up to ₹5 lakh for poor families,” he said.
Krishna Circuit to Connect Pilgrimage Sites
The Prime Minister announced plans to develop a ‘Krishna circuit.’ This project aims to connect important religious sites across Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Odisha.
Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, and BJP MP Hema Malini were present on stage with the PM.
