In a major shift from the past, the BJP-led Delhi government has begun withdrawing multiple court cases filed against the Lieutenant Governor’s (LG) office, sources revealed on Wednesday. The move aims to put an end to the long-standing legal battles that had frequently disrupted governance in the capital.
Cases Being Withdrawn
The withdrawn cases include disputes over:
- Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) chairman
- Funding for the Delhi Jal Board
- Appointment of lawyers in Delhi riots cases
- Teacher training programs abroad
- High-level committee on Yamuna pollution
Years of Conflict End
When the AAP government was in power, it was locked in a bitter feud with successive LGs—Najeeb Jung, Anil Baijal, and VK Saxena. The friction led to several legal battles, with the AAP accusing the LG of obstructing governance, while the LG’s office blamed AAP for non-cooperation.
With the BJP now in control, the decision to withdraw these cases marks a clear departure from the confrontational politics of the past, paving the way for smoother governance in the national capital.
