British Woman Raped by Instagram Friend in Delhi Hotel
A British citizen who traveled to Delhi to meet a man she befriended on Instagram was allegedly raped at a Mahipalpur hotel. Delhi police have arrested the accused, Kailash, while his friend Wasim has been charged with molestation.
From Online Friendship to Horror in Delhi
Police said the UK tourist had come to India for a holiday in Maharashtra and Goa. While in India, she called Kailash, asking him to meet her. Kailash refused to travel and instead asked her to come to Delhi.
On Tuesday, she arrived in Delhi and checked into a Mahipalpur hotel. She then invited Kailash over, who arrived with his friend Wasim. That night, Kailash allegedly raped her.
Police Action & British High Commission Involvement
The next morning, the woman approached Vasant Kunj police station and lodged a complaint. Following the legal protocol, the British High Commission has been informed and is assisting the victim.
Accused Used Google Translate to Communicate
Investigations revealed that Kailash works at a private firm. The victim also told police that he struggled with English and used Google Translate to talk to her.
With both accused in custody, authorities are ensuring a swift legal process while offering support to the UK national.
