Ajmer Sharif Dargah to Mark PM Modi’s Birthday with 4000 Kg Langar
On September 17, Ajmer Sharif Dargah will distribute 4000 kilos of vegetarian langar to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 74th birthday. Syed Afshan Chishty, Gaddi Nashin of the Dargah, shared that the langar will include rice, pure ghee, and dried fruits. It will be donated to both devotees and those in need.
Part of Sewa Pakhwada Celebrations
This generous act is part of the Dargah’s ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ celebrations, a tradition that spans 550 years. The langar will be prepared in the iconic ‘Big Shahi Deg,’ continuing the legacy of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishty’s service to the community. Special prayers will also be offered for Prime Minister Modi’s peace and well-being.
Serving Devotees and the Underprivileged
Syed Chishty explained, “On PM Modi’s birthday, we will organize seva programmes at religious places across the country. We will prepare 4000 kg of vegetarian food, including rice, ghee, and dry fruits, and distribute it to devotees and the less fortunate.”
Organized by Indian Minority Foundation and Chishty Foundation
The Indian Minority Foundation and Chishty Foundation will lead the langar preparations, with distribution beginning early in the morning. The ritual will officially start at 10:30 p.m., with the lighting of the ‘deg,’ followed by Quran recitations, devotional songs, and Qawwalis performed by volunteers and devotees.
