Arvind Kejriwal to Begin 10-Day Vipassana Retreat in Punjab
AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal will undergo a 10-day Vipassana session in Punjab starting Tuesday. He will be at a meditation center in Hoshiarpur from March 5 to March 15.
Second Vipassana Session in Three Months
This is Kejriwal’s second Vipassana retreat in recent months. In December 2023, he attended a similar session at the Dhamma Dhaja Vipassana Centre in Hoshiarpur. That visit came amid Enforcement Directorate summons in an excise policy case.
AAP Struggles After Delhi Defeat
Kejriwal has avoided public appearances since AAP’s crushing defeat in the Delhi elections. The party, which ruled the capital from 2015 to 2024, won only 22 of 70 seats. The BJP secured a landslide victory with 48 seats, ending AAP’s dominance.
AAP Leadership Reshuffle Underway
AAP’s Delhi unit is now restructuring. Convener Gopal Rai said leadership roles will be assigned based on performance in the elections. Several key leaders, including Manish Sisodia and Saurabh Bharadwaj, lost their seats.
Speculation Over Punjab Politics
Kejriwal’s Punjab visit comes amid Congress claims that some AAP MLAs may switch sides. AAP has denied these rumors, including speculation about replacing Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
