A Bengaluru civil court granted bail to the estranged wife of a 34-year-old Atul Subhash who died by suicide in December. The court also extended bail to her mother and brother, who were accused in the case.
The trio was booked under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for abetment of suicide, based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s brother.
24-Page Suicide Note and Video Evidence
The techie was found dead in his Marathahalli apartment on December 9. He left behind a 24-page suicide note and a 90-minute-long video explaining his ordeal.
In the note, he accused his estranged wife and her family of harassment through legal cases, including dowry-related charges.
Hefty Maintenance Demands Alleged
The techie’s suicide note alleged that his wife demanded ₹2 lakh in monthly maintenance on behalf of their minor son. Initially, she sought ₹1 crore as a one-time settlement, which she later increased to ₹3 crore.
Arrests in Gurugram and Prayagraj
Following the techie’s death, Bengaluru Police arrested the wife from Gurugram, Haryana. Her mother and brother were apprehended from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly abetting the suicide.
The investigation is ongoing, with police examining the legal and financial disputes that may have led to the tragic incident.
