BJP’s Parvesh Verma Refutes AAP’s Accusations
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Parvesh Verma has strongly denied allegations by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of distributing money, shoes, sarees, and blankets to voters in the run-up to the February 5 Delhi Assembly elections.
Verma dismissed the accusations as “baseless,” claiming they stem from AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s fear of losing the polls. “Kejriwal should focus on presenting his work to the people instead of spreading lies,” Verma told PTI in an interview.
AAP’s Allegations and BJP’s Counterclaims
AAP alleged that Verma distributed ₹1,100 to women and other items in the New Delhi constituency, where he is contesting against Kejriwal. Additionally, the party accused the BJP of manipulating the voters’ list.
Responding to the allegations, Verma questioned Kejriwal’s role in the deletion of 60,000 votes between the 2020 Assembly elections and now. “I wasn’t in the constituency during that time. Was Kejriwal behind this?” he asked.
Verma’s Confidence in BJP’s Victory
Verma expressed confidence in BJP’s win, stating, “The BJP will form the government in Delhi as people are tired of AAP’s lies and failures.” He predicted that Kejriwal would lose his deposit and slip to third place in the results, with Congress’s Sandeep Dikshit securing second place.
Criticism of AAP’s “Delhi Ka Dulha” Comment
The BJP leader also criticized AAP for mocking the party as a “Bin Dulhe Ki Barat” for not naming a chief ministerial candidate. “This term is absurd. We consider Delhi as our mother. It’s disgraceful for Kejriwal to claim to be ‘Delhi ka Dulha’,” Verma said.
He further asserted that Kejriwal could not become chief minister again due to his legal troubles, asking AAP to clarify its CM candidate.
The Final Word
As the elections approach, the war of words between BJP and AAP intensifies. While Verma dismissed the allegations as politically motivated, he reiterated his confidence in BJP’s ability to secure a win in the polls.
