BJP Criticizes Kejriwal’s Broken Promises
On Monday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched an ‘Aarop Patra’ (chargesheet) against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ahead of the Delhi assembly elections. BJP leaders, including MP Anurag Singh Thakur and city chief Virendra Sachdeva, attended the event.
Thakur criticized the AAP’s unfulfilled promises, stating, “They promised world-class schools, yet over 2,00,000 students remain without education. They promised 24/7 clean water, but thousands of families now buy water from tankers.”
Healthcare and Air Quality Issues
Thakur also addressed the AAP’s failure in healthcare. He said, “They promised free clinics and large hospitals, but 70% of patients are forced to seek treatment in private hospitals.” He also pointed to the worsening air quality in Delhi, highlighting that the AQI once crossed 1200 and still remains above 500.
Yamuna Pollution and Environmental Failures
Continuing his attack on Kejriwal’s leadership, Thakur highlighted the severe pollution of the Yamuna River. “People used to celebrate Chhath Puja on its banks, but the pollution has gotten so bad that the festival is no longer celebrated,” he said.
He further criticized Kejriwal for blocking the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Jal Jeevan Mission, which aims to provide water to all households. “Delhi’s people were left without basic access to water because Kejriwal did not allow the scheme to be implemented,” Thakur claimed.
Allegations of Corruption and Scams
Thakur also accused the AAP government of corruption, listing several alleged scams, including those related to the water board, classrooms, mohalla clinics, and the liquor and DTC scandals. “What kind of government is this? Kejriwal is a friend of the corrupt,” Thakur said. He further added, “This is the only government where the health minister, deputy CM, and CM were all in jail.”
Kejriwal Responds to BJP’s Chargesheet
In response, Arvind Kejriwal dismissed the BJP’s chargesheet, accusing them of lacking an agenda for the elections. “What have they done for Delhi in the last five years?” he questioned. Kejriwal highlighted the AAP’s achievements, such as improvements in electricity, water, and women’s travel, and criticized the BJP for not having a clear CM face.
He concluded, “The BJP is targeting me because they have no work to show for the last five years.”
