BPSC aspirants intensified their protests over alleged irregularities in the recent examination. On Monday, a delegation of students met Bihar Chief Secretary Amritlal Meena to present their demands. The state home secretary also attended the meeting. The Chief Secretary assured the students that their concerns would be reviewed thoroughly.
One of the students revealed their five main demands. These included a re-examination, withdrawal of FIRs against protesters, ₹10 lakh compensation, and a government job for the family of Sonu, a BPSC aspirant who recently died by suicide. They emphasized that authorities should take immediate action to address their grievances.
Meanwhile, Prashant Kishor, founder of Jan Suraj, gave Chief Minister Nitish Kumar a 48-hour ultimatum. He warned that if no action is taken within two days, he would explore further steps, including legal recourse. In solidarity, road blockades occurred across Bihar in places like Patna, Darbhanga, and Ara. These were led by the All India Students Association (AISA) and supported by the CPI-ML.
The Governor of Bihar, Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, summoned BPSC Chairman Ravi Manu Bhai Parmar for discussions on the matter. MP Pappu Yadav also met the Governor to highlight students’ concerns. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav announced plans to meet Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to seek a resolution.
Earlier, on Sunday, student protests turned violent. The police used batons and water cannons to disperse the crowd at JP Golambar. Prashant Kishor, who participated in the march earlier, left before the police crackdown. The police later filed an FIR against 21 individuals, including Kishor, and around 700 unidentified protesters.
The ongoing protests have lasted over ten days. Students allege a paper leak at the Bapu Pariksha Parisar exam center in Patna. Although the BPSC announced a re-test for that center, it has denied the need to cancel the entire examination. Aspirants continue to demand a fair resolution.
