Chhattisgarh to Offer MBBS in Hindi Starting 2024
Chhattisgarh will offer the MBBS course in Hindi from the 2024-25 academic session. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced this during Hindi Diwas celebrations. He said the decision aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s 2022 vision of providing medical education in Hindi.
Textbooks and Study Materials in Hindi
The state government has directed the health department to prepare Hindi textbooks and study materials for first-year MBBS students. These materials will be available from the upcoming academic session.
Boost for Rural Students
Sai emphasized that this change will benefit students from rural areas, who often struggle with medical courses in English. He believes studying in Hindi will help these students build a solid understanding of their subjects, enabling them to become better doctors.
Part of Education Policy Reform
The decision is part of Chhattisgarh’s broader efforts to reform its education system. The government has fully implemented the National Education Policy to move away from outdated, imperialist education practices. This shift is expected to improve access to quality education for students across the state.
