Rekha Gupta Meets PM Modi, Promises Swift Action
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence on Saturday. During the meeting, she expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the people of Delhi.
Before heading to the PM’s residence, Gupta greeted her supporters from the balcony of her Shalimar Bagh home. Using a public address system, she assured citizens that she would thank PM Modi on behalf of all women and daughters of Delhi.
“On my first day in office, we approved the Ayushman Bharat scheme in the Cabinet meeting,” she said. She pledged to work every day without delays and emphasized her commitment to building a Viksit Delhi as envisioned by PM Modi.
Ending her speech, she raised slogans of “Jai Shri Ram” and “Bharat Mata ki Jai” before departing for the meeting.
Ministers Inspect Roads, Launch Repair Drive
After meeting the PM, CM Rekha Gupta convened a meeting with PWD officials. She discussed urgent issues, including damaged roads, dug-up streets, and traffic congestion. She directed officials to take immediate action.
Meanwhile, PWD Minister Parvesh Verma inspected the Barapullah Phase-3 project. He assured that pending payments and environmental clearances—issues delaying the project—would be resolved soon.
Speaking at Sarai Kale Khan, Verma stressed the need for long-lasting roads. “Contractors must guarantee a 10-year lifespan for roads to avoid frequent recarpeting,” he stated. He also issued strict orders to remove encroachments across Delhi’s roads.
At Khajuri Khas crossing in North East Delhi, Law and Labour Minister Kapil Mishra criticized the previous government for the city’s poor road conditions. “Under Arvind Kejriwal’s rule, Delhi’s roads became a disaster. Potholes, dust, and waterlogging are everywhere. Our ministers and officials will now work round the clock to fix them,” he said.
With an aggressive push for better infrastructure, the new administration aims to transform Delhi’s roads and urban planning swiftly.
