The political temperature in Delhi is soaring as the Delhi Election 2025 approach. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has already declared candidates for all 70 seats, while Congress has announced candidates for 47. The BJP is yet to release its first list.
AAP, aiming for a third consecutive term in Delhi, has analyzed the winning potential of its candidates, ranging from the wealthiest to the least affluent MLAs.
The Poorest MLA in Delhi
Rakhi Birla, the MLA from Mongolpuri, is Delhi’s poorest legislator. During the 2020 elections, her declared assets were valued at just ₹76,421. AAP has once again trusted Rakhi for the upcoming polls. However, two other MLAs from the top five poorest list, Bhavna Gaur (Palam seat) and Rituraj Jha (Kirari seat), have not been renominated. Notably, Rituraj Jha has reportedly expressed dissent over this decision.
Crorepati MLAs in Delhi
In the 2020 elections, AAP won 62 of the 70 seats, leaving BJP with just 8. Notably, 52 out of AAP’s 62 MLAs were crorepatis, compared to 7 from the BJP.
