Delhi LG Intervenes Over Unpaid Salaries of DCW Employees
Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Vijender Gupta, announced on Wednesday that the Lieutenant Governor’s office has acknowledged the issue of unpaid salaries for the employees of the Delhi Commission of Women (DCW).
LG’s Office Responds to Gupta’s Letter
The response from the LG’s office followed Gupta’s letter, dated August 13, where he raised concerns about the financial hardships faced by DCW employees. He also highlighted the non-release of grant-in-aid to NGOs associated with the DCW. The LG’s office has reportedly begun taking necessary steps and has communicated with the relevant department to address the situation.
Request for Immediate Salary Release
Gupta urged the Lieutenant Governor to instruct the Delhi government to immediately release the pending salaries for DCW employees. He expressed deep concern over the situation, stating that the employees have not been paid for the past six months, leading to severe financial difficulties.

Financial Hardships for DCW Employees and NGOs
The BJP leader highlighted that many employees depend solely on their salaries for essential needs, including medical treatment. Among the affected workers are women who were victims of domestic violence and acid attacks, now facing additional hardships due to the salary delay.
“These women deserve timely payment, as withholding their salaries is a violation of their rights,” Gupta stressed.
Impact on NGOs and Social Institutions
Gupta also pointed out that social institutions receiving grants from the DCW have been unable to pay their own employees due to the non-release of funds. This delay has exacerbated the financial crisis for many workers associated with these NGOs.
The intervention by the Delhi LG’s office is a critical step towards resolving the financial crisis faced by DCW employees and affiliated NGOs. The situation underscores the need for prompt action to ensure that workers are paid on time, safeguarding their livelihoods and rights.
