Delhi LG Orders Probe Into AAP Schemes Before Elections
Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena has ordered investigations into allegations involving AAP’s schemes ahead of next year’s assembly elections. Based on complaints by Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit, the LG instructed the Delhi Chief Secretary and Commissioner of Police to take action.
Allegations and Complaints
Dikshit alleged misuse of personal data under AAP’s Mahila Samman Yojana. He also raised concerns about Punjab intelligence officers near Congress candidates’ homes and cash transfers from Punjab to Delhi to influence elections.
The LG directed an inquiry into private individuals collecting data during the scheme’s registrations. Delhi Police were tasked with taking legal steps against those violating privacy through unauthorized registration camps.
AAP’s Response
AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal dismissed the allegations as “fake.” He questioned the purpose of the investigation, stating, “What will they investigate?” He claimed the BJP wants to stop welfare schemes like Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana, which promise benefits for women and senior citizens.
Kejriwal also accused the BJP of orchestrating the probe to damage AAP’s chances. He stated, “First, they sent goons, then police, and now ordered a fake investigation.”
Concerns Over Mahila Samman Yojana
The Delhi Women and Child Development and Health Departments earlier issued notices calling the scheme “non-existent” and unapproved. They warned citizens against sharing personal information with unauthorized individuals.
Despite this, Kejriwal claimed 22 lakh women had already registered, making the BJP uneasy. “These schemes have made them nervous because they fear losing deposits in many constituencies,” he said.
Additional Allegations
The LG’s office also ordered police to monitor vehicles entering Delhi from neighboring states like Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. This step followed Dikshit’s claim about cash transportation to fund election activities.
Dikshit further alleged that Punjab intelligence officers were positioned near Congress candidates’ residences. The Delhi Police Commissioner has been directed to investigate and submit a report within three days.
Political Accusations
AAP accused the BJP of misusing the LG’s office for political gain. “This order comes from Amit Shah’s office, not the LG’s,” the party claimed. They added that BJP’s actions show they have accepted defeat in Delhi.
As the controversy unfolds, AAP and BJP continue to trade accusations, intensifying the pre-election battle.
