Delhi on High Alert for Holi and Ramzan Friday Prayers
Delhi Police have ramped up security measures across the national capital ahead of Holi on March 14 and Friday prayers during Ramzan. Over 25,000 police personnel, along with paramilitary forces, have been deployed to maintain law and order.
Strict Vigil at 300+ Sensitive Locations
Authorities have identified over 300 sensitive locations across the city. To prevent any untoward incidents, police are using drone surveillance and CCTV monitoring.
A senior police officer from northeast Delhi confirmed that constant drone monitoring is being carried out, ensuring swift response to any security concerns.
Patrolling and Community Coordination
To promote communal harmony, meetings with Aman Committees are being conducted across all 15 police districts. Delhi Police are also collaborating with market welfare associations and resident welfare groups to ensure peaceful celebrations.
The officer stated, “We are in continuous touch with community leaders. Both parties have been cooperative, and meetings will continue to discourage rumors and maintain harmony.”
Traffic Restrictions and Special Teams on Holi
Delhi Traffic Police will set up joint pickets with local police at major intersections to curb drunken driving, rash driving, and stunt biking.
Special checking teams will be deployed at drinking points, traffic hotspots, and vulnerable locations to detect and prosecute violators. Radar guns will also be used to monitor overspeeding.
Appeal for Responsible Celebrations
Police have urged citizens to celebrate Holi responsibly, emphasizing that drinking and driving endangers lives. Authorities are also in touch with mosque imams to seek their cooperation during Ramzan’s Friday prayers.
With enhanced patrols, motorcycle squads, and mobile vans keeping an eye on the city, Delhi Police are leaving no stone unturned to ensure a safe and peaceful festive season.
