A blast in Delhi’s Rohini sparked a heated political exchange today, as Chief Minister Atishi blamed the BJP for the deteriorating law and order situation in the capital. The explosion occurred at 7:47 am at the CRPF school in Prashant Vihar, damaging property but causing no injuries. Several agencies, including Delhi Police, CRPF, and the National Investigation Agency, are now investigating.
In a post on X, Atishi criticized the BJP for neglecting law enforcement. She argued that the BJP, which controls Delhi Police through the Union Home Ministry, has allowed the capital to become as unsafe as Mumbai was during the Underworld era. She accused the BJP of being more focused on disrupting the Delhi government’s work than ensuring public safety.
Responding to the allegations, BJP leader Shazia Ilmi dismissed Atishi’s remarks as a political stunt. She argued that instead of addressing the issue seriously, the AAP leader is engaging in a blame game. Ilmi called the response “immature” and said it was irresponsible to politicize a serious situation.
The upcoming Delhi elections add fuel to the ongoing political battle. AAP, in power for the last 10 years, is pushing for a third term. Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who resigned last month following his arrest in a corruption case, has promised to return to office if re-elected.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police have registered a case under the Explosives Act and launched a detailed investigation. Forensic teams and sniffer dogs are combing the blast site, and CCTV footage is being reviewed to identify the culprits. Preliminary findings suggest a crude bomb was used in the explosion, and a white powder-like substance was found at the scene. Authorities have cordoned off the area and are investigating possible conspiracy angles.
BJP MLA Vijender Gupta, who visited the site, expressed relief that no one was injured, describing it as a “big blast.”
