School Dispute Turns Deadly in Shakarpur
A 14-year-old student, Ishu Gupta, was stabbed to death outside Rajkiya Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya in Shakarpur, Delhi, on Friday. The Class 9 student got into a quarrel with a classmate during school hours, which escalated into a fatal confrontation after school.
Quarrel Over Mobile Phone Call
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhishek Dhania, the incident began when a classmate borrowed a mobile phone from Ishu during a break around 4 pm. The accused reportedly made a call and discussed a dispute with Ishu. During the call, the accused instructed someone on the line to “send people.”
Around 6 pm, when students were leaving the school, the accused classmate waited outside with a group of accomplices.
Fatal Attack
As tensions rose, one of the accomplices stabbed Ishu in the right thigh, causing severe injuries. The attackers fled the scene immediately.
School staff rushed to administer first aid and took the injured boy to Hedgewar Hospital. He was later referred to GTB Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Three specialised police teams reviewed CCTV footage, interviewed witnesses, and analysed technical evidence to track down the suspects.
The police apprehended all seven suspects while they were trying to flee Delhi. Among those arrested are five juveniles and two adults—19-year-old college student Saarthi and 31-year-old dairy shop owner Aman Kumar.
The police also recovered the murder weapon and other evidence, including blood-stained clothes and shoes belonging to the accused.
Police Efforts Lauded
The swift police action led to the arrests and recovery of critical evidence, preventing the suspects from escaping. Authorities are now working to understand the motive behind the fatal altercation.
This incident has sparked concerns about rising youth violence and the need for stronger measures to prevent such tragedies in educational institutions.
