The Delhi government’s Art, Culture, and Language Department will introduce a 360-degree virtual tour of Ghalib ki Haveli in Ballimaran. It will also restore four historic monuments across the city.
An official stated that many heritage sites are losing their significance due to poor conservation. To address this, the department has devised a plan for their preservation.
Virtual Tour of Ghalib ki Haveli
The virtual tour will allow visitors to explore the historic residence of renowned poet Mirza Ghalib. This digital experience will help poetry and history enthusiasts connect with the past.
Four Monuments Set for Restoration
The government will conserve:
- Minar at Hasthsal Village – Known as the Mini Qutub Minar, this three-story tower was built in 1650 and resembles the iconic Qutub Minar.
- Tomb of Sayyid Yasin at ITI Nizamuddin – This site contains a mud grave under its dome, revealing its historical significance.
- Baradari and Tomb at Sadhana Enclave – A forgotten monument with cultural importance.
- Kos Minar at Badarpur Village – A Mughal-era brick pillar used for communication and travel.
Experts Praise the Initiative
Historian Pushpesh Pant welcomed the move. He emphasized the importance of preserving monuments in lesser-known urban areas. He also suggested installing signage in Hindi, English, Punjabi, and Urdu to attract more visitors.
Pant highlighted the role of Kos Minars in history. These structures, covered with lime plaster, guided travelers and messengers during the Mughal period.
A Step Towards Heritage Conservation
Delhi’s initiative aims to revive its lost heritage and make history accessible to all. By blending technology with preservation, the government hopes to inspire people to reconnect with the city’s rich past.
