
Punjab Police Hosts National Equestrian Championship in Jalandhar
Chandigarh/Jalandhar, February 15 –
Punjab Police is hosting the National Equestrian Championship 2025 (Tent Pegging) at PAP Campus, Jalandhar. DGP Gaurav Yadav inaugurated the prestigious event on Saturday, highlighting its significance in showcasing skill, discipline, and tradition.
Fifteen teams from state police forces, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), the Army, the Navy, and private clubs are competing for the championship title. The event will conclude on February 23.
Grand Participation
DGP Yadav expressed pride in hosting the championship under the aegis of the Equestrian Federation of India. The tournament brings together:
- 15 teams from various security forces and private clubs
- 125 horses competing in different events
- Top riders, including international participants
He also extended his best wishes to the Punjab Police’s 20-member equestrian team, led by DIG Administration PAP Inderbir Singh. The team is competing with 24 horses. Notably, this is the first time an Indian Police Services (IPS) officer has qualified and is participating in the National Equestrian Championship.
Selection for International Competitions
Performers from this championship will be considered for selection in international equestrian events for 2025-26. The Equestrian Federation of India has appointed international jury members to oversee the competition.
DGP Yadav, as the event’s Chief Patron, invited the public and horse enthusiasts to witness the spectacle. The event is open to all with no entry fee.
