Amanatullah Khan Slams Congress Rally in Shaheen Bagh Amid Sambhal Mourning
AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan took to social media to criticize Congress workers for celebrating in Shaheen Bagh while mourning gripped Sambhal. Sharing a video of the Congress rally, Khan tweeted in Hindi, “Extremely sad! Congress workers dancing in Shaheen Bagh and there is mourning in Sambhal.”
The rally, part of the Congress’s “Nyay Yatra,” aimed to strengthen its position ahead of the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections. Held in Okhla, it featured former Congress MLA Asif Md Khan, drawing mixed reactions from locals.
Viral Video Sparks Controversy
The video shared by Khan on X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook quickly went viral, attracting thousands of views within an hour. While Congress leaders called the event a success, AAP supporters used the video to criticize the opposition. The video’s authenticity, however, remains unverified.
Internal Congress Rifts Emerge
The rally exposed deep divides within the Congress in Okhla. Party insiders revealed that tensions flared as local leaders, vying for election tickets, tore down each other’s posters in Shaheen Bagh and Batla House. With 19 candidates eyeing the Congress ticket, the rally highlighted growing disunity.
One Congress leader admitted the event failed to project party unity. “The rally was supposed to showcase strength, but it exposed internal conflicts,” he said.
Amanatullah Khan Faces Anti-Incumbency
Despite his criticism of the Congress, Amanatullah Khan is grappling with waning popularity in Okhla. Residents have voiced dissatisfaction with his performance, accusing him of failing to deliver on campaign promises. Experts believe anti-incumbency could give Congress an edge in the upcoming elections, depending on their candidate selection.
Clean-Up Drive to Win Back Support
In an effort to regain voter trust, Khan recently launched a “Clean-Up Okhla” campaign. In a video message, he promised residents he would work tirelessly over the next two months to address cleanliness issues. He also mentioned receiving direct instructions from Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to prioritize Okhla’s improvement.
As the political landscape in Okhla heats up, both AAP and Congress are positioning themselves for a fierce electoral battle. The viral video has added fuel to the fire, leaving locals divided over whom to trust.
