The Election Commission has asked all political parties to join a meeting to strengthen the election process. It assured that the meeting would take place at their convenience.
Call for Suggestions
The Commission urged national and state parties to highlight unresolved election-related issues. It asked them to submit their concerns to officials by April 30.
Regular Discussions with Political Parties
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar recently directed officials to interact regularly with political parties. He instructed them to address concerns and submit an action report by March 31.
The Commission also encouraged parties to use this engagement system actively. It believes regular discussions can help streamline the election process.
Context of the Initiative
The move comes after Opposition parties alleged electoral roll tampering in last month’s Delhi assembly elections. The issue is likely to be discussed in parliament during the budget session.
Opposition leaders may also raise concerns over the multiple EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Card) issue. The Commission’s initiative aims to address these concerns within the legal framework.
