Tragic Incident at Andhra Pradesh School Hostel
In a heartbreaking incident, a 16-year-old student at a government girls’ hostel in Kothapatnam, Prakasam district, gave birth to a stillborn baby. The incident occurred in the bathroom of the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) hostel, where the student had been living for the past two months.
Student Complained of Pain Before Incident
The student, who was in her first year of intermediate studies, had been attending classes regularly since joining the KGBV on June 19. On the day of the incident, she complained of severe stomach pain and went to the bathroom. When she did not return to her classroom after a long time, her concerned classmates alerted the teachers.
Discovery of the Incident
School authorities, unaware of the student’s pregnancy, were shocked to discover the situation. A lady lecturer entered the bathroom and found the student beside a stillborn baby boy. The student was immediately taken to RIMS Hospital in Ongole for medical attention.

Police Investigation Underway
Kothapatnam Circle Inspector Jagadish confirmed the incident, stating that the girl gave birth in the college washroom. The police were informed and quickly arrived at the scene. A case has been registered, and a person from Cheemakurthi Mandal is suspected to be involved in the matter.
