Kejriwal Faces Attack During Campaign in Greater Kailash
Chaos erupted in Delhi’s Greater Kailash on Saturday when a man hurled a liquid at former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal during his campaign. Security personnel swiftly overpowered the attacker.
Security Responds Quickly
A video shared by PTI showed the man attempting to grab Kejriwal before being subdued. Kejriwal wiped his face after the incident.
AAP Points Fingers at BJP
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accused the BJP of orchestrating the attack. Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj criticized the BJP-led central government, citing frequent incidents of violence in Delhi.
“Shootouts, gang wars, and extortion are rising in the city. A gym owner was killed in Greater Kailash, and another person was stabbed in Panchsheel Park. Now, regular attacks on Arvind Kejriwal show the complete collapse of law and order,” Bharadwaj stated.
Repeated Attacks on Kejriwal
AAP leaders highlighted previous attacks on Kejriwal, including incidents in Nangloi and Chhatarpur. Minister Atishi claimed, “BJP cannot defeat AAP in elections, so they resort to such dirty politics.”
Public Safety in Question
The man, reportedly a local resident, was taken to the police station for questioning. AAP condemned the attack, questioning Delhi’s safety under BJP’s governance. “If a former CM is unsafe in the capital, where can common citizens go?” the party asked.
Previous Incident in Vikaspuri
AAP recalled another attack during Kejriwal’s padyatra in Vikaspuri last month. They alleged BJP’s involvement in that incident as well.
Delhi’s political climate remains tense, with repeated allegations and counter-allegations following such attacks.
