ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Pakistan to Host, India Matches in Dubai
The ICC Champions Trophy is returning after eight years. The tournament will begin on February 19, 2025, in Pakistan and the UAE. Eight teams will compete, divided into two groups.
Pakistan, the defending champions, will host all games. However, India’s matches will take place in Dubai. The BCCI failed to secure government clearance for the team to travel to Pakistan due to ongoing political tensions.
India’s progress in the tournament will determine the venue for knockout matches.
Group A and B Team Details
India is placed in Group A along with Pakistan, New Zealand, and Bangladesh. Group B includes Afghanistan, England, Australia, and South Africa.
The tournament opener will feature Pakistan, led by Mohammad Rizwan, in Karachi on February 19.
Provisional Squads Deadline Approaches
The ICC set January 12 as the deadline for teams to submit their provisional squads. So far, six teams have named their 15-man squads. However, India and Pakistan are yet to announce theirs.
Reports suggest the BCCI has requested an extension. Fitness concerns over key players Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav are causing delays.
India is expected to reveal its squad by January 19.
