India Secures Quarterfinal Spots at the Kho Kho World Cup 2025
India’s Kho Kho teams continued their winning streak at the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup 2025, held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi. The men’s team crushed Peru 70-38 to seal a quarterfinal berth, while the women’s team thrashed Iran with a commanding 100-16 victory.
The men’s match saw a fiery start from the hosts, who dominated the early stages of Turn 1. Despite a brief defensive effort by Peru in Turn 2, India, led by Wazir Pratik Waikar, regained control, finishing the first round with an impressive 36 points.
Players like Aditya Pote, Siva Reddy, and Sachin Bhargo shone throughout the match, ensuring India extended its lead. By Turn 4, India had sealed a 32-point win, making a strong statement about their championship ambitions.
Indian Women’s Team Dismantles Iran
The Indian women’s team delivered another dominant performance earlier in the day, demolishing Iran with a massive 84-point margin.
It took just 33 seconds for India to eliminate the first batch of Iranian defenders, setting the tone for the game. Ashwini led the charge, with Iranian players holding their ground for a brief period before Indian attackers forced them back to the dugout.
Iran launched a skydive attack but couldn’t break India’s rhythm. Skipper Priyanka Ingle and Nirmala Bhati took the team to the Dream Run, earning crucial points.
In Turn 3, Iran managed to survive for nearly two minutes, their longest defensive stretch. However, Wazir Nirmala and Nasreen quickly turned the tide, eliminating three Iranian batches within minutes. The relentless Indian attackers added another 42 points in the final Turn, sealing a spectacular win.
India’s Title Hopes Shine Bright
With back-to-back wins, both Indian teams have proven their tactical superiority and physical prowess. The men’s and women’s teams now look unstoppable as they march towards the championship, ready to take on tougher challenges in the knockout stages.
