Iran Rejects US Talks Amid Sanctions, Engages with JCPOA Members
Iran has refused to negotiate directly with the United States while Washington continues its maximum pressure campaign. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed that Tehran will remain in contact with other signatories of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) but will not engage with the US under these conditions.
Trump’s Warning and Iran’s Response
President Donald Trump wrote to Iran, urging negotiations or facing military action. “If we have to go in militarily, it’s going to be terrible for them,” Trump told Fox Business.
Araghchi dismissed the warning. He emphasized that Iran will only respond to respect and fairness, not pressure and threats. “We are talking with European nations, Russia, and China. These discussions will continue, and we believe a solution can be reached through this path,” he said.
Iran’s Resistance Against Pressure
Iran remains firm against US sanctions. “As long as the US government applies pressure, we will continue our resistance,” Araghchi stated. He added that Washington must engage in fair negotiations if it seeks meaningful dialogue.
Iran is also working closely with Russia and China, ensuring that their perspectives reach US officials. “Our discussions with other nations will naturally be conveyed to the American government,” he said.
Israel’s Threats and Iran’s Warning
Araghchi dismissed Israel’s threats to attack Iran’s nuclear sites, asserting that the country’s nuclear technology is widespread and cannot be destroyed. “The technology exists in our minds. It cannot be bombed,” he said.
He warned that any military attack on Iran could spark a regional conflict. “Israel wants to drag America into war. But the US knows how vulnerable it would be in such a conflict,” he added.
Araghchi concluded by stating that rationality must prevail. “Even issuing threats against Iran is dangerous, let alone carrying out an attack,” he warned.
