Jamia Millia Islamia Plans Hybrid Education Model with Physics Wallah
Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) held a key meeting on January 9, 2025, to discuss setting up a Centre of Excellence at the university. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mazhar Asif, led the discussions with Bharat International Global (BIG) Senior Manager, Satyam Jindal. BIG is a joint venture of NSDC, the Government of India, and educational platform Physics Wallah.
The proposed collaboration aims to introduce the Pathshala Model Classes for students in grades 9 to 11 and UPSC aspirants. These classes will focus on personalised test preparation, mentorship, and skill development. The initiative will support students preparing for exams like JEE, NEET, NDA, and UPSC.
The Hybrid Education Model, proposed by Physics Wallah, aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It aims to provide cost-effective, high-quality education while fostering STEM learning.
Jamia’s Global Academic Ties Get a Boost
In another development, Jamia hosted 14 faculty members from Minority Serving Institutions and Community Colleges in the US. The delegates, from various academic fields, visited to explore research collaborations with JMI faculty.
The Vice-Chancellor welcomed the team, emphasizing the importance of global academic partnerships. He highlighted how such collaborations, as envisioned in NEP 2020, can benefit both students and faculty by promoting knowledge exchange and skill-building.
The US delegation, led by Dr. Purnima Mehta of the American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS) and Prof. Amar Sawhney from Miami Dade College, visited various departments. They interacted with JMI faculty to explore potential partnerships in diverse fields.
A luncheon meeting with the delegates and JMI’s senior officials concluded the visit. Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar, thanked the delegation and expressed hope that these engagements would yield valuable academic outcomes for both institutions.
