The exit polls for the 2024 Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections suggest a hung assembly, with no party likely to secure the majority of 46 seats. According to the People’s Pulse exit poll, the Jammu Kashmir National Conference-Congress alliance is expected to lead the race.
People’s Pulse projects the National Conference to emerge as the largest party, winning between 33 to 35 seats. The BJP is predicted to win 23 to 27 seats, making it the second-largest party in the Union Territory.

In the Jammu region, the India Today-CVoter exit poll shows the BJP likely to win 27 to 31 seats, with the National Conference-Congress alliance projected to win 11 to 15 seats.
Dainik Bhaskar Exit Poll:
Dainik Bhaskar forecasts that the BJP will win 20 to 25 seats, while the Congress-NC alliance is expected to secure 35 to 40 seats. The PDP may win 4 to 7 seats, and other parties could claim 12 to 16 seats.
Gulistan News Projection:
Gulistan News on Republic TV predicts 28 to 30 seats for the National Conference, 3 to 6 for Congress, 5 to 7 for PDP, and 8 to 16 seats for other parties and independents.

National Conference president Farooq Abdullah stated there would be no post-poll alliance with the BJP. He emphasized that their vote was against the BJP and mentioned issues like the demolition of Muslim-owned properties as reasons for staying away from any alliance.
The voter turnout in Jammu and Kashmir reached 63.88% in the assembly elections, with the third phase recording the highest turnout of 69.69%. These elections, held in three phases, mark the first since the abrogation of Article 370.
Counting of votes is scheduled for October 8, 2024. The elections were mandated by the Supreme Court after it directed the Centre to hold assembly elections in the region by September 30, 2024.
