BJP Leaders Discussing Modi’s Replacement, Claims Karnataka Minister
Karnataka Labour Minister Santosh Lad alleged that several BJP leaders are unhappy with India’s economic condition and are discussing a possible replacement for PM Narendra Modi. However, he claimed that these leaders fear speaking out publicly, reported Deccan Herald.
Gadkari as a Possible Successor?
During a recent New Delhi visit, Lad said he learned that some BJP members are considering Union Minister Nitin Gadkari as an alternative to Modi. “There is suffocation within the party, but BJP leaders do not have the freedom to openly discuss Modi’s failures,” he remarked.
Swamy’s Criticism and BJP’s Silence
Lad also referenced veteran politician Subramanian Swamy’s criticism of Modi. Swamy recently accused Modi of lacking economic expertise and being an ineffective leader. “Why aren’t BJP leaders countering Swamy? They know he is right,” Lad stated. He pointed out that the same BJP leaders who once supported Swamy’s attacks on Sonia Gandhi are now avoiding responses to his remarks on Modi.
Lad Slams Modi Over Governance Issues
Lad also raised concerns about the Mahakumbh stampede in Prayagraj, questioning the lack of official data. “The NDA government stands for ‘No Data Available.’ Instead of addressing national concerns, the Prime Minister is busy performing ‘aarti’ throughout the day,” he said.
He further criticized the government for not reducing GST rates, stating that lower taxes would have benefited the public.
Defending Karnataka’s Guarantee Schemes
Addressing concerns over Karnataka’s ₹60,000 crore state guarantee schemes, Lad dismissed claims that they are affecting development projects. He clarified that MLAs requesting additional funds have been accommodated.
He asserted that the Congress government has allocated more funds to all sectors than the BJP ever did. “Government finances always have constraints, but guarantee schemes are not the problem. They are essential to our vision for development,” Lad emphasized.
