AAP Announces Free Healthcare for Senior Citizens Ahead of Delhi Elections
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has pledged free medical treatment for senior citizens in Delhi. Party chief Arvind Kejriwal announced this initiative as part of the ‘Sanjeevani Yojana.’ People above 60 years of age will receive free treatment at all government and private hospitals if AAP retains power in the upcoming elections.
“It is our responsibility to care for you. You have worked hard for the country’s progress,” Mr. Kejriwal said, addressing senior citizens.
To strengthen its position, AAP has released the list of candidates for all 70 Delhi Assembly seats. Arvind Kejriwal will contest from New Delhi, while current Chief Minister Atishi will fight from Kalkaji.
Key Highlights of ‘Sanjeevani Yojana’:
- No upper limit on treatment costs.
- Doorstep registration to begin in a few days.
- Registered citizens will receive a card for accessing benefits.
Mr. Kejriwal emphasized that this policy would be implemented immediately after the elections. “Our volunteers will visit homes for registration and provide cards. Keep the card safe, as it will enable free treatment once we return to power,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has scheduled a preparatory meeting this week. The dates for the Delhi Assembly elections are expected to be announced soon.
This announcement comes as a significant move to attract senior citizens and showcase AAP’s focus on welfare policies ahead of the highly anticipated polls.
