Kejriwal Slams Congress, BJP Over Protests by Punjab Women
AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal accused Congress and BJP of joining forces to target his party. His statement came after women from Punjab protested outside his Delhi residence, demanding fulfillment of pre-election promises.
Kejriwal dismissed the protests, claiming the women were party workers sent by Congress and BJP. “Those women did not come from Punjab. The women in Punjab are with us. They trust AAP,” he said at a press conference.
He challenged Congress and BJP to officially announce their alliance. “Congress should not worry about us. They should declare that they are contesting elections together against AAP,” he added.
Kejriwal Defends AAP’s Governance and Welfare Schemes
Kejriwal highlighted AAP’s achievements in Delhi, including free water for 12 lakh families. He acknowledged that issues arose during his absence, leading to inflated water bills.
“I want to make it clear. If you think your water bill is wrong, don’t pay it. Wait for the elections. Once AAP forms the government, we will waive these bills,” Kejriwal promised.
Meanwhile, protesters accused the Punjab government of failing to deliver on its Rs 1,000 monthly allowance for women. They claimed AAP launched similar schemes in Delhi ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.

Congress and BJP Respond to Kejriwal’s Promises
Congress criticized AAP for allegedly deceiving women in Punjab. The party accused AAP of making false promises to Delhi women.
“Just like they fooled Punjab women, they are now planning to mislead Delhi voters,” Congress said in a statement.
Congress leader Pawan Khera took a dig at Kejriwal, saying, “Is he scared? The people of Delhi aren’t fools. They will give him a fitting reply in the elections.”
Controversy Over Data Collection for Women’s Scheme
The Mahila Samman Yojana landed in controversy after Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena ordered an inquiry. Allegations surfaced that private individuals collected personal data without official approval.
This inquiry intensified the debate on AAP’s welfare policies, just as Delhi gears up for assembly elections.
BJP Announces First List of Candidates
The BJP released its first list of candidates for the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections. Parvesh Verma will contest against Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi. Ramesh Bidhuri will face off against AAP’s Atishi in Kalkaji.
AAP swept the 2020 elections, winning 62 out of 70 seats. The upcoming polls are expected to be a tough battle between AAP, BJP, and Congress.
