AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal Clarifies Contest Plans
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal has dismissed the BJP’s claims that he would contest the upcoming Delhi assembly elections from two constituencies — New Delhi and another “safe” seat. “I will only contest from one seat,” Kejriwal stated during a press conference, addressing media speculation.
BJP’s Parvesh Verma Accuses Kejriwal of Nervousness
Reacting to Kejriwal’s statement, BJP leader Parvesh Verma, contesting from the New Delhi seat, accused the AAP chief of being “nervous.” Verma claimed Kejriwal’s outreach to parties in the INDIA alliance showed his fear of losing support in Delhi.
“Other parties in the INDIA alliance have no significant presence in Delhi. Kejriwal is reaching out to them because he knows the BJP is gaining ground. We are confident of forming the government here,” Verma added.
TMC Pledges Support to AAP
Kejriwal recently announced that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) had extended its support to the AAP ahead of the February 5 polls. However, Verma dismissed the relevance of the INDIA alliance, stating it was falling apart after the Maharashtra elections.
“The alliance members have started blaming each other for their losses. The remaining leaders, whom Kejriwal once criticized, are now his allies. But Delhi voters see through his hypocrisy,” Verma remarked.
As the Delhi elections approach, both AAP and BJP continue to exchange sharp accusations, setting the stage for an intense electoral battle.
