Lalit Modi Moves to Surrender Indian Passport

Lalit Modi, the founder of the Indian Premier League (IPL), has applied to surrender his Indian passport at the Indian High Commission in London. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed this on Friday.

Modi’s Citizenship Shift

Modi has acquired citizenship of Vanuatu, a South Pacific Island nation. He left India in 2010 and has since been living in London.

Legal Troubles Continue

Indian law enforcement agencies have been investigating Modi for alleged embezzlement worth crores of rupees during his tenure as IPL chief. The MEA spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, stated that authorities would review his passport surrender request under existing regulations.

India Pursues Case Against Modi

Despite his citizenship change, Indian agencies continue legal proceedings against him. The MEA assured that the case remains active and will proceed as per the law.
