Mamata Banerjee Meets Protesting Doctors to Resolve Standoff
Kolkata’s junior doctors finally sat down with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after two failed attempts to meet. The doctors reached her Kalighat residence for a third round of talks. The state government had labeled this as the “fifth and final invitation” for discussions.
Unlike the previous meetings, the doctors successfully entered the venue. According to sources, talks between the two sides have started. The earlier attempts, including one on Saturday, failed due to disagreements. The main issue was whether the proceedings should be live-streamed or recorded, with the video given to the doctors afterward.
Both previous meetings ended without discussions. Doctors had arrived but left before starting any talks. In one instance, images of the Chief Minister waiting in an empty hall went viral, highlighting the ongoing deadlock.
