In a bizarre turn of events, a man believed to be dead for 17 years has been found alive in Jhansi. The man, Nathuni Pal, was registered as “dead” in Bihar Police records. His uncle and brothers even spent time in jail for his alleged murder.
The mystery unraveled on January 6, when Jhansi Police found a suspicious man during patrolling. Upon questioning, they learned he had been living in the village for six months. He identified himself as Nathuni Pal, a 50-year-old from Deoria, Bihar.
Further inquiry revealed that Pal lives alone. He recently returned to Jhansi after years of wandering. “My parents died when I was young, and my wife left me. I haven’t been home in Bihar for about 16 years,” he told the police.
The case dates back to 2009, when Pal went missing from his home. His maternal uncle filed a complaint, accusing another uncle and four brothers of killing Pal over a land dispute.
“My youngest brother, who works in the police, was also named in the case,” said Satendra Pal, one of the accused. “But after pleading with senior officers, his name was removed from the FIR.”
Satendra and two other brothers served eight months each in jail for the alleged murder. Their father, who was also accused, passed away during this time.
When Satendra learned that Nathuni was alive, he couldn’t hold back tears. “The stain of murder has finally been lifted from us,” he said. However, the case is still ongoing in court.
Nathuni has now been handed over to Bihar Police for further investigation.
The discovery has left everyone shocked, raising questions about the legal system’s lapses and the impact of false accusations.
