MP Sanjeev Arora Urges NHAI to Expedite Ludhiana Road Projects
MP Sanjeev Arora met National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav in New Delhi to address key infrastructure issues in Punjab, particularly in Ludhiana.
During the meeting, Arora highlighted the need to link the Ludhiana-Roopnagar highway with Bahadur Ke Road. He pointed out that this 5-kilometer stretch would ease logistics for industries and boost economic growth in the area. Yadav assured Arora of a swift feasibility and technical report for the project.
Arora also pushed for the fast-tracking of Vehicular Under Passes (VUPs) at Kailash Nagar, Jassian Road, and Jalandhar Bypass. In response, the NHAI chairman immediately contacted RO Punjab Vipnesh Sharma and instructed him to expedite the work.
Additionally, Arora brought up the need for a VUP at Dhandari Railway Station crossing NH 44 in Ludhiana. This underpass aims to manage heavy goods traffic from nearby industries and improve pedestrian movement. Yadav promised to have the proposal reviewed and further action taken.
Southern Bypass and Land Acquisition Issues Discussed
Arora raised concerns about a pending 2.2 km stretch under acquisition by NHAI’s Southern Bypass project. The chairman assured that steps would be taken to resolve this issue. He discussed the matter with Ludhiana’s Deputy Commissioner and asked him to work with RO NHAI to sort out the modalities.
Yadav also shared updates on upcoming projects in Zirakpur and Sirhind. He appreciated the Punjab government’s efforts in better land acquisition for NHAI projects and praised Arora for his proactive approach in helping NHAI tackle roadblocks.
These projects are expected to improve road connectivity and support Ludhiana’s growing industrial zones.
