Omar Abdullah Seeks Transparent Probe into Kathua and Baramulla Incidents
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has raised concerns over two recent incidents—the alleged suicide of a 25-year-old man in Kathua and the killing of a truck driver in Baramulla—with the Union government.
Government Steps In
Taking to social media platform X, Abdullah stated, “The J&K government will also order its own inquiries.”
In a detailed statement, he expressed distress over the alleged police harassment in Billawar, which reportedly led to the suicide of the young man, and the unclear circumstances surrounding the army’s shooting of Waseem Ahmed Malla.
A Call for Justice
“These incidents should never have happened,” Abdullah said, adding that such events “risk alienating the very people we need on the road to complete normalcy.” He urged the Union government to ensure a time-bound and transparent inquiry into both cases.
The J&K administration has also initiated separate investigations to uncover the truth behind these unfortunate events.
As tensions rise over these incidents, all eyes are on the upcoming probe results.
