New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched several key projects in Delhi on Friday. He said these developments would improve the city’s infrastructure and make life easier for residents.
“Today is an important day for Delhi’s development. At a programme in Ashok Vihar, I will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for several projects that will boost ‘Ease of Living’ for Delhi residents,” PM Modi wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Key Projects Inaugurated
PM Modi inaugurated 1,675 flats in Ashok Vihar for families living in JJ clusters. He also unveiled other significant projects:
Project | Location | Details |
---|---|---|
World Trade Centre (WTC) | Nauroji Nagar | New business hub |
GPRA Type-II Quarters | Sarojini Nagar | Housing for government staff |
CBSE Integrated Office Complex | Dwarka | Modern administrative office |
Additionally, he laid the foundation for three new Delhi University campuses. These projects, worth ₹600 crore, include:
- Eastern Campus at Surajmal Vihar
- Western Campus at Dwarka
- Veer Savarkar College at Roshanpura, Najafgarh
Political Clash Over Veer Savarkar College
The naming of Veer Savarkar College sparked a heated political debate. Congress criticized the BJP for honoring Savarkar, accusing him of writing mercy petitions to the British.
The BJP hit back. It accused Congress of disrespecting national icons to gain political mileage.
The row comes as the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU), led by the Congress-backed NSUI, continues to oppose the BJP’s moves on campus.
Projects Aim to Improve Lives
The Ashok Vihar flats will provide better housing for former slum residents. These homes aim to improve living standards for marginalized communities.
The Delhi University campuses will bring advanced facilities and modern infrastructure to students. These developments will expand educational opportunities in the city.
By launching these projects, PM Modi reaffirmed his government’s commitment to improving Delhi’s urban spaces. The new initiatives focus on housing, education, and business development, ensuring a brighter future for residents.
