Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s new initiative, under the ‘Create in India’ banner, aims to take Indian cinema and content to global heights. This initiative has gained praise from industry leaders like Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar.
In his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address on December 29, PM Modi announced that India will host the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) for the first time in February 2025. He emphasized that the summit will serve as a global platform for Indian creative talent, fostering collaborations and positioning India as a hub for world-class content creation.
PM Modi compared the summit to prestigious global events like the World Economic Forum in Davos. Leaders from the global media and entertainment industries will attend. The summit will also feature content creators, influencers, and innovators from various creative fields.
“This summit is a crucial step towards making India the heart of global content creation,” said PM Modi. The event will showcase India’s advancements in animation, gaming, entertainment technology, and cinema, both regional and mainstream.
Inviting Global Creators
The prime minister encouraged all creators, from young talents to established professionals, to participate. “Whether you’re from Bollywood, regional cinema, or involved in TV, animation, gaming, or entertainment technology, this summit is for you,” he said.
Shah Rukh Khan praised the initiative, calling it an occasion that fosters creativity. He expressed excitement about being part of it and highlighted the significance of the Indian film and entertainment industry in both the economy and as a soft power.
Akshay Kumar also applauded PM Modi’s vision, calling the WAVES Summit a great opportunity to bring the entertainment industry together and grow globally.
Other celebrities, including Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Ritesh Sidhwani, and Ektaa Kapoor, have also shown their support for the event.

The WAVES Summit will take place from February 5-9, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. This five-day event promises to be a game-changer for India’s media and entertainment industry on the global stage.
